Truth (excerpt)
Video, 2020
In these times where so much of what we hear and read are lies, when two pillars of civilization – journalism and science – are being increasingly discredited and undermined, Truth is meant as encouragement for individual scrutiny of information, of validation of its source and content, shining a light on whatever needs exposure and ultimately for a build-up of a precious kind of human bond: trust.
Milky Ways (excerpt)

Rafael Toral's output in the last 15 years has been focused on action, attention, vulnerability and decision-making. As he enters a third phase in his carrer, it now appears there is a need for more reflection, space, slowing down, backing off and being quiet. Musical manifestations of that idea thake on a different shape, actually with common traces to the earlier 15-year period. Milky Ways is a performance piece for a moving audience, much like an installation, without narrative or structure. An electric guitar is used to slowly build drone layers of harmonic variations.

End. Linear progression and the habit of guessing – the end. In everyday circularities, end and beginning coincide. Among them, the limit. In the geography of a country with sea, the beach. At a specific point on that boundary, the lighthouse.
The headlight. Since land a long way. Drill the net, sit on the base of the tower. Cigarette, sea, infinity. From the sea a long way, a coordinate, a point – pay attention! or calm down at last. Continuity in intermittency.
