The whole universe becomes a giant beast whose stones, flowers, and birds are so many organs that cohere with precision in their participation as a single common soul.

THIRD NATURE looks into subjects of the natural world whose sentient life transcends the boundaries of the man-made spaces — i.e. gardens — they inhabit. The photographs single out garden residents that seem to stand simultaneously inside and outside the recognizable world order. Here, photography is explored as a means of approximation to the seemingly indistinct and elusive life of these subjects. By recollecting these living beings in images, photography transmutes them and unveils their third nature.
