With airborne mass transportation, human beings are propelled into a space where, at other times, gods may have been imagined to reside. Commercial air travel has, after its golden age – when the term «jet set» was coined – been compromised by stricter and more complex security measures and a de-individualization process. An air traveller does hardly feel special anymore. Passengers are caught up in a space between boring and likely tedious trivialities on the one hand and on the other hand a notion of the mechanically most radical form of commonly affordable travel with its unstable illusion to feel globally connected. What about suddenly perceiving yourself sitting in what could be the place of the cargo ancestors being transported by this machinery, en route to the congregation of their dramatic cult, whose members build model planes and runways to attract Y O U R V E R Y P L A N E, Y O U R V E R Y L U G G A G E F U L L O F Y O U R L A T E S T M A T E R I A L P O S S E S S I O N S, Y O U R V E R Y B O D Y W I T H Y O U R V E R Y O W N S C E N T, Y O U R V E R Y E X I S T E N C E W I T H Y O U R V E R Y P E R S O N A L S E T O F V A L U E S A N D D O U B T S. And you might never wish to touch down again on familiar soil.
