Carla Santana dedicates herself to contemplative forms of living and working sound, creating soundscapes using field recordings, electroacoustic captures, analog and digital synthesis and processing of several different sound sources. With studies in Music and Arts and with a degree on Interior Design, she lives sound through its musical potential, but also as an artistic object. She regularly plays electronics in improvised music concerts with other musicians, from several different sound areas.
She presents her creations solo (concerts, audiovisual compositions, sound acts, manifestos) under the Quatroconnection name and composes for theater and dance performances, but also participates in different ensembles, such as Variable Geometry Orchestra, IKB, Isotope Ensemble. She's part of other music collectives, such as Quarto Com Luz (with Samuel Gapp, Michael Schiefel, Helena Espvall and João Valinho), Rodrigo Brandão (with Rodrigo Amado, Hernâni Faustino and João Valinho) and Defiant Illusion (with Gonçalo Almeida, Maria do Mar and José Lencastre) and also of the experimental and improvised music collective Lantana (with Joana Guerra, Maria do Mar, Maria Radich, Helena Espvall and Anna Piosik).
